The “real” Mexico, in my eyes, is the city of Mazatlan. It is full of culture and traditions and is truly a hidden gem! I wish everyone could have an opportunity to experience it.
To truly discover Mazatlan and all it has to offer, you should leave the “touristy area” and explore the historic Old Town. There is the beautiful Cathedral Basilica in the heart of Mazatlan, along with cobblestone streets, old buildings with balconies, street vendors, and some of the best authentic restaurants – those of which specialize in seafood. If you are familiar with New Orleans in Louisiana, Old Town Mazatlan is very similar!
Mazatlan has something for everyone: history, nightlife, shopping, fishing, golfing, snorkeling, beach, and relaxation. By far the best thing about Mazatlan is the people! Those who reside in Mazatlan take pride in their city, as well as welcome tourists with open arms.
If I could describe Mazatlan in one word I would say it is “comfortable.” It is the one city in Mexico I believe I could live in forever. The roughest thing about Mazatlan is having to leave.
We’re continuing to share RCI subscribing members’ Mazatlan photos and stories. Stay tuned, there’s more to come!
