South Africa 2003

This was our first real trip using our timeshare. We were told by everyone that you have to trade Gold for Gold, Silver for Silver, and so on, that is so not true. With RCI on your side the world is open...We traded for Cabana Beach just outside of Durban, South Africa, the top RCI affiliated resort in the country. WE GOT IT! What an adventure we had. The resort was wonderful, right on the water with spectacular sunrises over the Indian Ocean. Cabana was home base to a week of once-in-a-lifetime day trips. We went diving with sharks, saw a recreated Zulu Village in the day of King Shaka and went on a game drive. Sharks withstanding the game drive ended up giving us the biggest threat of all. Halfway up the mountain we were met head on by a young bull elephant. Nowhere to turn around and he started walking right towards us! We had to back up down the road all the way, with the elephant flapping his ears and swinging his trunk. We later learned from the rangers that there was a new born calf and he was being big brother. Loved it!

Australia’s Gold Coast from the Eyes of an RCI Employee

Cassie J. - Destination and Travel Information from AustraliaI might be slightly biased, but I think Australia’s Gold Coast is the best place on Earth.

Don’t get me wrong, we live in an amazing world filled with exotic destinations, enriching experiences, and unique cultures. But every time I return from an international jaunt or interstate getaway, I’m happy to be back home in Australia (which is where I work as a Communications Officer for RCI).

Bordered by a 70-kilometer ribbon of soft sandy coastline snaking its way along the east and a lush green veil of world heritage-listed rainforest to the west, topped off with 300+ days of sunshine, it’s not hard to see why 10.5 million people make their way to the Gold Coast every year for a wonderful vacation.

And I’m lucky enough to live here.

My weekends usually consist of scanning the beach for the perfect spot to drop my towel before splashing in the turquoise water. As the sand squelches between my toes, I always feel warm and fuzzy inside as I look around at all the smiling faces of tourists on vacation and locals alike enjoying another perfect day in paradise.

Then it’s usually off to a restaurant or café where my friends and I spend the afternoon with a gourmet treat and a glass of chilled wine. Even though we do have our favourite places to dine, we like to mix it up, be it the view, the menu, the atmosphere, or the price. So it’s lucky the Gold Coast has more restaurants per square kilometer than anywhere else in Australia!

It’s not all about the beach and dining out, there’s always a walking trail, broadwater cruise, winery tour, mountain drive, theme park, or shopping expedition to keep everyone entertained. If you ever thought about a vacation in the Gold Coast, we have a lot of vacation rentals and timeshares available through RCI.

Have you ever been to Australia’s Gold Coast? If so, let us know what your favourite part was by commenting below.

Trip to Snowater, WA

Having moved to Hawaii from S Africa we decided that instead of visiting the other Hawaiian Islands again we'd do a trip to somewhere we had never been to. Took a look on the internet at Washington state and thought it sounded interesting we booked a timeshare unit at Snowater in a National Forest. Spent a few days in Seattle to see the "big city lights" then motored up to Bellingham and Snowater. Arrived late afternoon with light fading and booked into our bungalow, it was so dark and disappointing, had to put on lights to see anything. We decided we'd stay the night and then move on. However come morning, we opened our Lanai door to see the Nooksack River flowing cheerfully by, amidst the tallest trees I've ever seen. We decided to take a walk alongside the river and did so every day listening to and watching the water rushing over the rocks. After our first day we decided this was what we needed, complete peace - no phone or TV. Had a most rejuvenating week having long conversations, reading, playing cards, walking and the highlight was going to "Artist Point" about 20 miles from Snowater where the most magnificent views of snow capped mountains and glassy lakes surrounded you at every turn.

This was one our most memorable timeshare vacations and highly recommended to "get away from it all"

Irish Adventure

We had done one RCI exchange to south central Ireland years ago and were anxious to return. A friend of mine, whom I had sold on the idea of time-sharing, called me with the news that she had just gotten a call from RCI offering her a choice of 2 exchanges in Ireland. After discussing the points of interest in both areas, she decided to accept the one nearer Dublin. As soon as she called RCI back to confirm, I picked up the phone and requested the one she had turned down. We were thrilled to be able to visit in the western part of Ireland for this exchange.

Our timeshare, just over the Quiet Man Bridge, was a thatched cottage with our own private sauna. The cottage came with a complimentary load of peat so we were able to get a fire going every evening after returning home from our adventures. The living room window overlooked lush green mountains of the West and sheep wandered in and out of our backyard daily. We took day trips to Connamarra, Galway and the Cliffs of Mohr. We booked a bed and breakfast in Doolin so we could sail to the Aran Islands the next day. The mountains, the sea, the pubs and the charm of the Irish people we met made this a magical trip we will never forget.

Seapoint - Cape Town (week1)

What an amazing week we had in Seapoint - Cape Town (week1)

What an amazing week we had in Seapoint! The resort was fantastic, could not do more to be helpful. One evening we sent my daughter down to ask if someone could open a bottle of wine for us as we had no corkscrew - she returned with the bottle opened and in a silver bucket of ice!
We did not need a car - the resort shuttle service was better than any we have ever experienced before in our 21 years of timeshare ownership!
The highlight of our week was Table mountain, I did the trip up in less than 10 minutes by cable car, my husband and daughter age 11, did the 3 hour climb to the top. The views were amazing.

Dan The RCI Guy Takes on Marbella, Spain

Dan "The RCI Guy" - Vacation Travels with RCI TV's Dan "The RCI Guy"I never get tired of visiting Spain. It is a beautiful country that can differ greatly by region. Recently, I stayed in Marbella on the southern coast while attending a conference where resort developers from around Europe come together to discuss the latest trends - which is why I attended this conference…to talk a bit about RCI TV. As a timeshare owner myself, I have to say that Marbella is where I want to exchange into next.

Marbella is built around a beautiful bay with sandy beaches and soft winds that come off the Mediterranean Sea. The mountains rise sharply as you travel inland and one of the areas you really should check out is the historic city of Ronda. It has an awesome Roman aqueduct and bridge that ushers you into its gates. There's plenty of shopping and eating to be done... or just spend your time exploring! In fact, one of the videos on RCI TV features Ronda - check it out on the Destination Reviews online channel on RCI TV.

Have you ever visited Marbella or another city in Spain? What was your favorite part? Comment below and tell me about it!

New Hampshire Trip 2009

Our recent trip to New Hampshire was absolutely amazing. The fall colors were stunning and the entire White Mountain area is beautiful. We loved the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, Crawford Notch State Park and Moose Path Trail. We saw 2 moose on an evening tour from Gorham and enjoyed a 5 1/2 hour scenic train tour from North Conway. We also did the Mount Washington Auto Road tour and really loved the ride up and down the mountain and even the high winds and cold weather at the top. Definitely worth the price of the tour! We stayed at the Eastern Slope Inn and loved the timeshare and the area. Many cute restaurants and shops in North Conway and Conway area. We drove to Lake Winnipesaukee and took the Mount Washington Boat tour, which was excellent also. All in all, one of our favorite trips and would return in the fall in a heartbeat - I imagine all seasons are beautiful there, but true leaf peepers would prefer the fall.

New England 2008

New England has always been one of the top places we've wanted to visit in the fall. Last year with the help of RCI, we were able to make our dream come true! We traded our timeshare for one at the VILLAGE OF LOON MOUNTAIN LODGES in Lincoln, New Hampshire at the end of September through the beginning of October. It was the perfect location that allowed us to drive near the resort and also farther away to see so much of the area and the autumn beauty. One of my favorite highlights was visiting the home of the great American poet Robert Frost. His work has been so inspiring to me and being able to walk through his home, stroll the grounds and see the view of the New Hampshire mountains that he saw made me feel like I knew him just a little bit better. With a view like his, it's not hard to understand why he was such an amazing writer with so much inspiration, right in front of him. We also traveled to the Lake Winnepesaukee region where one of my favorite movies, "On Golden Pond" was filmed. On other days, we took drives to see the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory and the VonTrapp Lodge in Vermont, as well as driving many of the scenic highways in the area to take in the gorgeous natural surroundings.
