Since we launched this blog, we have written a lot about vacations, destinations and RCI updates. This time, though, I want to switch gears and tell you about Christel House, a charity that we support here at RCI. I know everyone has their own charity of choice, so I wanted to take the time to tell you about a charity that I personally think is amazing.
RCI co-founder Christel DeHaan established Christel House in 1998 after a trip to Mexico, where she saw so many underprivileged children with so much potential missing out on opportunities that you and I often take for granted.
Christel created Christel House as a way to help children around the world break the cycle of poverty, realize their hopes and dreams, and become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. With six learning centers around the world, Christel House serves over 3,000 underprivileged children to provide them with education, nutrition and health care.
At RCI, our participation ranges from sponsoring the annual RCI Christel House Open golf event to a variety of employee fundraisers including silent auctions, karaoke, flower sales, themed celebration days and much more. Seeing the generous nature of everyone involved in our fundraising efforts makes me proud to work for RCI.
Recently, one of our summer interns blogged about her reflections on Christel House on their blog. Click here to read her thoughts as well as a few of the inspiring stories about children whose lives were changed by Christel House.
