Diversity in Malaysia

RCI Asia Destination InfoI hope you enjoyed those great tips about Thailand! Next up this week is Malaysia!

Malaysia is a bubbling, bustling melting-pot of races and religions where Malays, Indians, Chinese and many other ethnic groups live together in peace and harmony. The multiculturalism has made Malaysia a gastronomical paradise and home to hundreds of colorful festivals.

Malaysians are very relaxed, warm and friendly. Geographically, Malaysia is almost as diverse as its culture. Malaysia has 11 states and 2 federal territories (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya) that form Peninsular Malaysia which is separated by the South China Sea from East Malaysia, which includes the 2 states (Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo) and a third federal territory, the island of Labuan.

The sheer diversity of tourism destinations is astounding. These include the high-tech city of Kuala Lumpur, tropical island of Langkawi, colonial hill stations of Genting and Cameron Highlands, numerous pristine beaches, National Parks, and the world's oldest tropical rainforests. Malaysia has the potential of catering to tourists of every hue and it truly lives up to its tag line, “Malaysia Truly Asia.”
