New Zealand – A country unlike any other!

Kate VA little known fact about me is that I was born in Auckland, New Zealand. My mother is from New Zealand and wanted to go “back home” to have her first born child.

New Zealand is filled with scenic beauty, like “The Remarkables,” a gorgeous mountain range that is the highlight of Lake Wakatipu, set in the foreground in Queenstown on the South Island.

Hopping across the Pacific Ocean to the North Island is Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city, which is at the southwestern tip of the North Island. Wellington is a gorgeous ocean-side community thriving with excitement and 5-star accommodations. From there to Paihia, which is about a 10-hour drive north, the landscape will take you on adventures of mountainous beauty, mystifying creatures (glow worms anybody?) and my native town...Auckland. The Paihia waters are crystal blue, so much so that you might swear you were someplace not on this Earth. An amazing sight to see!

New Year…New Adventures!

Kate V. - New Year…New Adventures!Happy New Year everybody! As an employee of RCI for the last two years, I am entering 2012 in a new role. As I am dipping my toes into a new adventure within the company, I challenge you all to take a deep breath, close your eyes (okay open them - you need to keep reading!) and think about what new adventures this New Year will bring you.

Think back to when you were a new member… some of you don’t have to think back as far as others! What were your travel aspirations when you joined RCI? What freedoms were you looking for and what privileges were you (are you) excited to take advantage of? Will 2012 be the year that you embark on that trip-of-a-lifetime that you’ve always dreamed of or will you break the mold of the usual family destination and go somewhere less traveled? In the past two years, my husband and I have ventured to Ireland and twice to Mexico. We are eager to see where we will go this coming year, as I am sure you are feeling the same for you and your family.

I wish you all the best in 2012 and hope that, whether you are a seasoned RCI subscribing member or just joined, your journeys are filled with many wonderful memories that you will cherish for years to come.

This week on the RCI blog, we will be sharing stories from new members about what they’ve learned and where they’ve traveled . Come back and take a look…you may just get inspired!
