Cool Vibes…Jamaican Style

Janice W.C. - RCI News and Vacation TipsFor my sister’s 30th birthday celebration, a few family members and friends traveled to Jamaica, where most of us were born and raised. The fun started in Kingston, where we toured the historical Devon House (a national monument). The house is beautiful and the landscape is welcoming with a huge fountain and majestic palm trees gracing the grounds. The best part is the Devon House ice cream. The flavors were unique and delicious - a must try!

To get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, we traveled to Negril. We drove along the serene coastline and stopped at a road side stand to buy coconut water which was cool and refreshing on a hot day! The villa we rented was on the beach…and we were able to walk only a few steps to get to the crystal clear sea waters. My son had fun playing in the sand and my husband joined a pick up soccer game on the beach with some locals.

From Negril, we traveled to the stunning Frenchman’s Cove beach in Port Antonio. No trip to Port Antonio is complete without stopping at Boston Jerk Centre. Here we sampled authentic Jamaican jerk pork and jerk chicken (even fish). Warning – the pepper is not for the faint of heart! The entire trip was relaxing and fun…the scenery, food and people were awesome and we can‘t wait to return to Jamaica!

Come back to the RCI blog this week to see pictures and read stories from RCI subscribing members who visited Jamaica. And if you have a story or photo (or both!) to share, please do it here. We may post yours on our blog at the end of the week!
