Traveling to Portugal? Here are some ideas!

Will HAlmost two years ago, I blogged about a trip I took to Portugal. I wrote about a “praia” I visited, Cape St. Vincent, and, yes, sardines. In case you missed it, you can take a look at it here.

Since I enjoyed Portugal so much, I wanted to share a couple more great tips about this amazing country:

Have you ever been to a “praia” in Portugal?

Will H. - RCI Product and Marketing UpdatesTaking a vacation in sunny Portugal is a great way to step back and relax. The people are some of the friendliest my fiancée and I have ever come across during our travels. And they are always happy to offer local advice on the best places to visit and eat.

Speaking of eating, sardines are a must if you visit Portugal! You can smell the fresh aroma of the day’s catch being grilled in little restaurants dotted all the way along the Algarve coast.

Portugal is a country with some of the most beautiful hidden coves and beaches – known as “praia” in the Portuguese language – anywhere in Europe…something my fiancé and I always enjoy! They are broken up by imposing sandstone cliffs and rocks. Try Praia da Falesia, west of Vilamoura for idyllic sunbathing.

And a visit to the most south-westerly point in Europe – Cape St. Vincent – is also an essential, especially at sunset when you can catch the sun disappearing into the Atlantic while locals fish from the top of 300 foot cliffs. Amazing.

It’s a destination you’ll fall in love with – we did and we plan to return there again very soon.

This week on the RCI Blog, we’ll be sharing stories and photos from RCI subscribing members who visited Portugal and other European destinations.
