A Las Vegas Vacation Leads to Great Memories for RCI® Subscribing Members!

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesIt's the go-to city for a lot of people, and everyone wants to take at least one Las Vegas vacation in their lives. But a lot of RCI subscribing members love going back again and again. Whether you go once, or go several times, it seems you will have a memorable experience.

In my position with RCI, I am lucky to hear stories from our members about their Las Vegas vacations. Some of our members have booked last minute trips to Las Vegas, some go for their birthdays, and one member used it as a form of personal healing after the loss of her husband.

I’m glad they didn’t stick to the “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” way of thinking, or I may not have been able to share these wonderful stories* with you!

Lynford, Scottsdale, AZ: While on a spur of the moment trip to Las Vegas in February of 09, we decided to utilize our Points since we could not find a reasonable place to stay in the heart of Vegas. We called up an RCI vacation guide who helped us secure a reservation at the Summer Bay Resorts which is just off the main strip. We were able to be close to all the fun and excitement that is Las Vegas. While there, my family and I had the most wonderful stay we've ever had in Las Vegas, all thanks to RCI!

Edith, Stone Mountain, GA: When my husband Roch died last year, after 48 1/2 years of marriage, I just knew I wouldn't travel again without him. He'd died in March of 2008. As the anniversary of his death came near, my children told me Dad would be unhappy if I sat at home. I thought about it, and decided they were right, and as an Avon Conference was coming in August, called RCI to see if there was a week available in Las Vegas. Always reliable RCI found a week for me, and together with my daughter, we went to Las Vegas and to the conference, and yes, we had a ball. It was wonderful, and I realized that I could in fact do it on my own, or with one of my children. Now I know I can get up and go, so am thinking about where I'll be going next year. My confidence in doing this came from the caring personnel of RCI, and their understanding of my situation, and caring helpfulness.

Fawn, Fort Lauderdale, FL: When I booked my exchange for the resort in Las Vegas we were surprised and delighted when the guide offered us a free upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite! When we arrived it was gorgeous and so spacious. I immediately contacted family in nearby states to get them to come and share it with us. It was a fabulous stay and a great birthday treat!

Patty, Louisville, KY: We were originally set to go to Turkey this October. RCI was wonderful in helping us locate a nice resort in the timeframe we wanted. Unfortunately due to family crisis, we were unable to save up the money for the airfare. So RCI came to rescue at short notice and helped us set up a vacation in the Grand Desert in Las Vegas in November where I can finally attend my first Professional Bull Riders Finals competition live! Plus my son and his family recently moved to Las Vegas, making this an even better trip. While we haven't taken our vacation yet, I am sure thankful for RCI for coming to the rescue and I'm sure giving us a vacation to remember. The adventure continues…

Why RCI® Subscribing Members Love the Many Possibilities of a Florida Vacation

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesWhen you hear “Florida vacation,” the three things that probably come to mind are sunshine, theme parks, and character breakfasts. But Florida is known for much more than that.

Whether you are traveling with your family, your significant other, or a group of friends, a Florida vacation has an abundance of activities that's sure to keep anyone entertained. For music fans, there are orchestras, operas, and symphonies. Animal lovers can enjoy the aquariums or the 2,000 mile Great Florida Birding Trail. Art buffs can check out the museums and strolling arts districts, while night owls may want to dance the night away in one of the many nightclubs.

As part of my job at RCI, I am lucky enough to hear from members about their Florida vacation experiences. Here’s what some RCI members had to say* about their resort vacations in the Sunshine State:

Charleen, Newfane, NY: We spent two weeks at the Dover House in Delray, Florida, in February and March of 2009. The resort was a cozy spot right on the ocean. We walked across the street and there was the beach. We could see the sunrise from our front porch or walk down to the beach and watch the beautiful day dawning. It was a five minute walk to the main shopping/tourist area and the intercoastal waterway. A cruise on the waterway was wonderful with beautiful homes and waterways. There were many wonderful restaurants including two about 500 feet from the resort itself that were quite charming with outside seating. It was a very relaxing area, but there were many things to do. The beach was great, and so was the pool — not a crowd to contend with, but friendly people to socialize with.

Jackie, Missoula, MT: We spent a week in Key West at the Galleon Resort. Pretty much in walking distance of anything and everything you want to see and do in Key West. From our unit we could watch the sun rise and sun set. We had a beautiful ocean view and couldn’t have asked for a better setting to experience the wonders of Key West.

Janet, Cincinnati, OH: We visited Plantation Beach Club at Indian River. It was the most relaxing vacation I think I had ever had. We had a wonderful screened balcony that was great. The views were fabulous. When you came up to the balcony in the morning, it was absolutely beautiful. The water looked as if it was right outside your door. When it was high tide, it was just fabulous. I will be looking forward to coming back again. My favorite memory of this resort is lying on the balcony with the ocean to my left and Indian River straight ahead. Just beautiful and what a memory to treasure. I would recommend this resort to anyone. I have been so pleased with my RCI exchanges. I loved every single resort we have visited or exchanged.

California Vacation: More than Just a Summer Timeshare Destination

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesIn my position here at RCI, I get to hear directly from subscribing members about their timeshare vacation experiences. A lot of our RCI® subscribing members choose a California vacation for one reason or another, especially in the winter. They talk about the beaches, the wineries, and the good weather — a great combination to warm up any winter. Some of them are planning a stay at a timeshare for a wedding, honeymoon, or anniversary. Some of them are just planning for some time away. Here’s what other RCI members had to say* about their California vacation:

Robert, Palmdale, CA: Our trip to Arnold, California in March was awesome. The Big Trees State Park was just down the road and the kids went snowboarding 20 minutes away. Lots of hiking and fishing. The nearest lake was gorgeous and we saw lots of wildlife. People in the town were really friendly and helpful. The resort was comfy and had a warm feel to it. We want to return there.

Joyce, Salem, NH: My husband and I were excited to plan our exchange trip to Capistrano California.  We exchanged our Cape Cod timeshare for a beautiful two bedroom, two bath timeshare in the Capistrano Surfside Inn. The timeshare was huge and immaculate and the ocean was just across the street.  Also within walking distance was Dante Point which not only had an active harbor and walking areas with fantastic restaurants and shops, but bikepaths as well for those who wanted to bike around the area.  We visited The Mission at Capistrano and walked the small streets with many unique shops.  We chose this place to have a restful holiday and it was, yet there was plenty to do if we chose to do so.  I would highly recommend this paradise area to anyone who wants to vacation in California.  We would definitely visit again, but there are so many beautiful resorts with RCI, we want to try them all.  We love RCI and the wonderful opportunities it offers us in trying new places and seeking new adventures.

Christine, San Bernardino, CA: In the summer of 2007, my husband and I experienced the most wonderful, relaxing vacation week that we have ever had. We decided to stay at WorldMark Angels Camp, California. During the day, we spent time visiting a couple of local wineries and sightseeing. In the evening, we barbecued dinner, relaxed, and escaped the reality of everyday stresses. It was a wonderfully simple and non-hurried vacation and we are looking forward to getting away again in the future!!

Italy: A Lot of History and A Lot to Do!

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesWho hasn’t dreamed of visiting Italy, even if it's just for a short while? Picture it: lounging in the espresso shops, reading by one of the fountains, dining al fresco with friends, taking a break for gelato…

Some RCI subscribing members have already enjoyed a vacation rental or timeshare exchange vacation in Italy and everything the country has to offer. Since my position at RCI allows me to hear from members about their European vacations, I thought I’d share a few stories* with you:

Larry, Olympia, WA: Last May, when we arrived at Il Poggio, our first week’s stay, it was 9:50 p.m. The resort office closed at 10 p.m., and we were worried we wouldn’t make it. We had a stressful drive from the Rome airport, and were hungry and tired. Il Poggio is located in a small town in Tuscany, and by that time of night, the few stores and eateries were closed. The owner graciously sent a tray of salami, cheese, and bread to our room, and it was even enough for breakfast the next morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there, followed by a lovely week on Sardinia, and another week in northern Tuscany.

George, El Cajon, CA: Our trip to Italy was fantastic. We went from Assisi to Sicily. All four weeks were with our RCI weeks. Assisi and Tropea were our favorite. This was a chance for my wife to explore her roots in Sicily and we had a great time with long lost family. Thanks RCI.

Richard, Monroe Township, NJ: Just got back from a wonderful week in Montegrotto Terme. We were a 10-minute train ride from Padua and a 60-minute train ride from Venice. The property was wonderful and located near the train station. The hotel staff was great and the room was immaculate. The town’s shops were very good for browsing and shopping. The food on the half-board was very good and we would return to this property again.

Now it's your turn! Do you have any experiences from your trip to Italy you’d like to share? If so, comment below.

Canyons, Hiking, Beautiful Scenery and More… All on an Arizona Vacation!

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesThree years ago, my family planned a winter vacation to sunny Sedona, Arizona. We bought our Red Rock Pass and picked up a trail map from the local Chamber of Commerce, then we hiked, and hiked, and hiked, each trail offering more adventure and more scenery than the last. We all enjoyed the area immensely, hiking, shopping, dining, and enjoying the fabulous resort pool and hot tub to our hearts’ content.

Making the most of our timeshare travel, we’ve visited Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., even Disney during our winter vacations, but this is the area we like to return to the most. We’re not alone in our adoration of Arizona! At my job with RCI, I am fortunate to hear vacation stories from our RCI subscribing members. Here’s what other timeshare owners had to say* about their Sedona resort vacations:

Linda, Wilmington, NC: We absolutely loved our trip to Arizona. We stayed in Sedona for the week. It is impossible to describe or photograph how beautiful it was. It was also our base for the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest and Page Canyon. What a wonderful week. We will return to this destination.

Alan, Ankeny, IA: Wanting to take a great winter vacation, my wife and I invited a couple to go with us to Sedona, Arizona. It was February and we found the weather to be great jacket weather. It was warm enough to golf and reasonably priced golf courses were found. Our condo exchange was the most beautiful we ever had and had a small lock-out unit attached which was wonderful for two couples. The scenery was beautiful and we really enjoyed the vacation.

Elaine, Milford, CT: Sedona, Arizona, is a dream destination. We have used our timeshare there several times, and never cease to marvel at the natural rock formations and of course the people. Best adventure is the side trip to Grand Canyon close by — don’t miss it!

Robert, Galt, CA: Our trip to Sedona, Arizona, was one of the funniest and most relaxing vacations we have taken in the 20+ years we have been members of RCI. Stayed at Sedona Summit, a great place. Each day we explored the area seeing some of the most beautiful scenery, Indian ruins, red rocks, beautiful homes, interesting rock formations, and talking to the locals about the area. The entire trip was one of awe. Fortunately, we had fantastic weather. We had the time of our lives.

The Orlando Area: A Great Vacation Destination for Any Age!

Susie M - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesMy friend’s children were 6 and 4 the first time they traveled with RCI to the Walt Disney World theme park for a Disney vacation. She remembers thinking that they were the perfect ages to appreciate this trip. She told me though that once she got there she realized that kids of any age, and even adults, can enjoy the diversity of the four parks, and the other attractions throughout the Orlando area.

Her children rode the Buzz Lightyear and Dumbo rides, ate lunch with Chip and Dale, and SO much more. As an adult, she was able to appreciate the ethnic offerings at Epcot or the bigger rides. So guess where her kids want to go for our next vacation, at ages 14 and 12? You got it: Orlando and another Disney vacation.

In my role at RCI, I get to hear a lot of feedback from our subscribing members. Seems like the Orlando area is the destination of choice for a lot of RCI members with children and grandchildren of any age. Read what some of them had to say about their Orlando and Disney vacations*:

Judi, Philippi, WV: We took our entire family—17—to Disney World for a week and stayed at an RCI location. We had a wonderful time and it wouldn't have been possible if it hadn't been for RCI. We had our three children and their families—granddaughters 11, 8, and 7, twins 5, two 4, twin boys 18 months. They all still talk about what a wonderful time they had.

David, Onalaska, WI: We took our daughter and family to Orlando when our grandson was 8. While we were watching the laser show at the World Showcase at Epcot, my grandson was sitting on his uncle’s shoulders. As the show was coming to an end, he made the comment that this was “The Best Day of My Life.” That comment made our whole trip worth it.

Steven, Sumter, SC: We searched to find a resort that was convenient to most of the theme parks and had resort amenities to please adults, as well as grandchildren from 18 months to 16 years old. We found all we were looking for and more at Summer Bay Resort. The children loved the activity center's activities, as well as the onsite water park. We all loved karaoke and our well appointed condo. We are all looking forward to staying there again.
