Improved Vacation Search Tools Make Finding Availability a Breeze

Jen V. - Improved Vacation Search ToolsAs a member of the e-commerce team, I think one of our most exciting projects in 2009 was an enhancement to the search function on Historically, members would say "just tell me what you have" when it came to searching for timeshare exchange. Now we do exactly that, but it's easier!

Searching used to require many inputs before you could see what RCI had "on the shelf." Now, once you’ve deposited your week, you can see every timeshare exchange available for you without inputting any criteria.

In order to navigate through the thousands of properties available, we’ve added many filters to narrow down the results to help you get just the vacations that are right for you. You don’t even have to choose a geographical destination – you can choose dates instead and see everything that’s available for you throughout the world during a particular time…or choose ski vacations from the Vacation Type filter and see your ski options available everywhere from Argentina to Zurich.

After we released this fantastic new search tool in 2009, we got lots of great comments from members who loved it and started booking their family vacations on We also got some great recommendations from you on how we could make it better. So, in June 2010, we launched two new search tools based 100% on member feedback.

My Favorite Searches lets members save search queries they are always doing. Next time you come back you can simply click the "self-named" saved search and you will immediately see the results that match your criteria. But don’t confuse this with Ongoing Searches. Ongoing Searches are still the best way to get in line for timeshare exchange vacations that haven’t been deposited in the system yet.

Advanced Search provides those of you who know what you want the ability to add multiple criteria before getting to the timeshare exchange search results. (You can also save these searches, too.) This can be a quick way to get deeper into search results within one page. Keep in mind that adding multiple criteria at one time could limit available options and may result in zero search results. I suggest adding one criteria at a time in order to see which options are available as you narrow them down.

These search improvements have significantly improved how you can find family vacations. There’s been a tremendous increase in the number of online activity and bookings, and we’re happy to see you are asking for new features. As you can see, we’re listening to you and want to make finding the right vacation fun and easy.

How are we doing? If you like what we're doing, let us know. If you want to see any changes or improvements, please comment below and we'll see if we can include them in future upgrades.

When I deposit my Wyndham points with RCI and create a week available for exchange, I am not also given the opportunity to search for available exchanges. Why not?

I have tried using this search. Is there a trick to it?? Must you have a week deposited to be able to see what is available? We also have points. However, each time I attempt to put in a date to see what is available and a state, I get the red message that there is nothing available; so I try changing the date, just putting in a starting date, change the state, etc. Still the big red Nothing available. I am very frustrated.

Earlier this year my husband, sister and I checked in at the Branson, Wyndham Resort. My husband, and I were assigned a delightful and wonderful 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo overlooking the pool at the Meadows. My sister, who we travel with each year when we make reservations thru RCI, was assigned a 1 bedroom unit at the Wyndhan Falls. We made our reservations well in advance and did not know until we arrived in Branson that our units were 2 miles apart. We were so dissappointed, as the previous year we had gone to a Wyndham in Nashville and were just 2 doors down from each other. We were not told that we would be in different facilities, otherwise we would have made other arrangements. We could have easily just all stayed in the 1 unit and saved our other trade for another time. I called RCI frorm Branson and they told me that there was nothing they could do because there was no vacancy at the facility that my husband and I were staying at. It all worked out just fine and we had a wonderful time, as the Falls and the Meadows had a shuttle that took my sister back and forth as we needed and a fabulous driver. It just would have been nice to have known in advance that we would not be at the same location. Is there something we should have done differently, a question we might have asked, or should the representative from RCI made it clear that we would not be in the same facility? We have been so happy with all of our timeshare trades with RCI over the years, however, it was disappointing to be so far from my sister and disappointing for my sister to be at an unfamiliar destination in a room by herself. I look forward to your response. Carole

Due to the uniqueness of your points-based membership with CWP, RCI transactions require individual attention by specially-trained RCI Guides. For assistance with your travel plans, please contact an RCI Guide at 800-572-0931 or 317-805-9128. Thanks for commenting!

Hi Carole, thanks for your comment. We're sorry to hear of your disappointment, but we're glad you still had a wonderful time in Branson. Keep in mind that all unit assignments are made by the resort upon check-in. Therefore, for more detailed information or to make a request, it is best to contact resorts directly to see if two units can be assigned close to each other. We can place units on hold for you to allow time for research before confirming. We do, however, need to mention that RCI cannot guarantee or enforce any private arrangements made between you and the resort. We hope this helps you in planning for your next vacation!
