Alaska Cruise

Ship navigated and snaked its way into the fiord. Steep cliffs on either side. Very dry year (2009) in Alaska, therefore minimal amount of heavy waterfalls from the cliffs along the route. End result was the glacier. Large chunks of ice floating past and around the ship. The sound of the ice crashing into the water from the melting glacier was spectacular. Four members of the ship's crew ventured onto one large chunk of ice. Netted one large piece for ice sculpturing later that evening. They waved to the cheers of the passengers lining the deck above. An amazing scene.
