Our Honeymoon

My husband and I were married in 2005 in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends. We took such care in planning every detail of our special day. But one thing we overlooked until the very end was a honeymoon. So we decided to forego any trip. Until I checked our RCI account and realized we had a week banked. I decided to look for a trade and found a beautiful resort in Puerto Vallarta. We were a bit apprehensive about traveling to Mexico, but that all faded as we arrived at the resort. It was a tropical paradise. We spent 7 warm, sunny days enjoying lush plants, peacocks, iguanas, secluded beach, and beautiful pools. The waiters in the restaurants and at the pool spoiled us. The trip was everything you would want on your honeymoon!!!

Hi - Congratulations on your recent marriage! Our daughter is getting married and we are giving them our timeshare for their honeymoon in January. They have been to Cabos, and are looking for a luxury hotel on the beach where they can enjoy beach activities as well as land excursions - particularly jeeping, zip-lining etc. I did not see that you listed where you stayed. Would you mind telling me - and if you had the opportunity for any of these activites?

We stayed at Velas Vallarta, which is a mandatory all-inclusive resort when you exchange through RCI. The resort owned beach is fairly small and I've never seen anyone swimming in the water. We have noticed quite a few tour boats off the shore and many people parasailing right from the resort beach. We took a city tour arranged by Velas and also headed into town on our own. We've returned to the same resort every year since 2005 and have never done anything more strenuous than a dinner cruise and a show. But then again, we were not the typical 20 or 30 year old honeymooners. Not that 40+ is old either. We just choose to stay at the resort and relax.

The resort website has a lot of information about activities. You will also see infomation about sister properties, which appear to be even more luxurious than Velas Vallarta. http://www.grandvelas.com/

Best wishes to your daughter and new son-in-law!
