I gave my daughter a surprise 16th birthday staying at Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort near Orlando, Florida. I invited her 4 best friends and her brother and sister who are older than her and could rent a car for travel. I paid for the airfare, the exchange, and park admissions. I gave them spending money for food and fun. Unfortunately, I could not be there due to surgery, but it was a memorable sweet 16th birthday. All of them met at my house to present her with a card full of the tickets and a Mickey sweatshirt the night before. She was so surprised, happy and sad that I could not be there to celebrate. She knew I could not give her a party at this time but stated that this was the best trip ever and will never forget it. I am grateful for RCI to help make this dream come true and make this a memorable birthday for her.

I could tell over 20 fabulous vacation stories of our adventures with RCI exchanges since we bought our first week in 1996. However, most fresh in our minds is seven days at Vacation Village at Weston, FL near Ft. Lauderdale. We always try to select our resorts not only for the amenities (we were not disappointed), but for day trip adventures as well. Our day trips included a day cruise to the Bahamas and a trip to the Everglades, including a boat ride. We also went on a resort-sponsored bus ride to enjoy the sunset on Key West, a Thanksgiving Day drive to the beaches of Miami, and had a picnic with turkey sandwiches at the calm waters off Key Biscayne State Park. Late November in South Florida beckons with warm 70 degree days, cool nights, little rain and best of all, few bugs. Ahh! What RCI adventure is next?

For my exchange week I chose Mizner Place (a Vacation Village resort) in Weston, FL, right near Ft. Lauderdale. I traveled there from PA by bus. When I arrived at the registration desk and they realized I had no vehicle, they changed my accommodations to Vacation Village at Bonaventure, also in Weston, but within walking distance to many things. I was very happy about this as I could walk to the pool and gym. My place was perfect and I enjoyed being where all the action was. Every consideration was extended to me which made my stay perfect. I did go over to see the Mizner which had its own little town right there. A quiet area for people wishing that, but I was glad to be in the busy section. Thank you RCI for making my exchange easy. Your people have always been very friendly and extremely helpful.

It was the first time we exchanged and it was the best! Loved the Keys. We drove to Key West from our resort – only a 2.5 hour drive – and saw all the Keys on our way down and back. Very doable in one day, but next time, we will plan an overnight stay to get the full Key West experience. We found great out-of- the-way restaurants and really enjoyed the Harry Harris Park – not a fishing park, but great for walking and watching the ocean. We also loved Bahia Honda State Park. Worth the trip! Best part of our stay was sitting on our balcony – watching the dolphins every morning and enjoying a glass of wine and watching the beautiful sunsets every evening. We are already planning our next exchange. Would highly recommend this resort!

During the summer of 2008 my husband, son and I spent a week in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, our first exchange trip. I'd never heard of Pagosa Springs, and had just asked the RCI Vacation Guide to find us something no more than a three day drive from San Francisco (not in a city). The resort was great, our unit very attractive with anything we might have wanted...We went rafting, hiking, soaked in hot springs, and drove to the town of Taos through some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen. We also had a great trip there and back, with stops at the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park...and more beautiful countryside. A great beginning to our RCI exchange vacations -- can't wait until the next one!

We have been coming to Pagosa Springs for many years and staying at Fairfield Pagosa, now called Wyndham Pagosa. We fish and golf, bike and hike, we just love the area and the beautiful surroundings. While biking around the area, we saw a house for sale and bought it last summer. This has been our first summer spent in our mountain retreat and now we are free to travel elsewhere to find new places we have never seen. We have friends come up to visit and if we run out of room, we can just book them into an affiliated resort. It was so wonderful to come here year after year and see that it was a place we would like to spend our summers since we are from the Phoenix, Arizona area and it is too hot to stay there in the summers. We love RCI and exchanging!

We went through RCI to exchange for a trip to Virginia and while staying at the resort, we took a trip through the resort to Washington, D.C. We didn't think we would ever be able to visit Washington, D.C. and all the great places that we got to see. We are from a small town and don't travel a lot, but this was a trip that my husband and I will never forget. We took the Civil War tour and also visited some of the historical places that we had read about in history books. Those battles came alive for us by seeing where they had taken place. We would like to go back someday!

My trip to Williamsburg was the greatest trip. I took my two grandchildren, ages 11 and 7 as well as my neighbor and her two children. We drove down to Virginia from New York and had a wonderful scenic ride. Once we arrived in Williamsburg we were very pleased with our resort. We found the resort to be spacious, clean, and very accommodating. The surrounding amenities were great. The pool area was really nice and clean...I truly recommend using RCI to anyone looking to exchange great accommodations. They will truly meet your expectations.

After enjoying each of our exchange vacations through RCI to such places as Costa Rica, Orlando, and the Poconos, our family of eighteen found our trip to an RCI affiliated resort in the Shenandoah Valley the best. Washington, D. C. was close, as were visits to many nearby sites: Civil War battlegrounds, estates of American historical figures, and beautiful landscapes. The amenities at the Eagle Trace at Massanutten were comfortable, elegant, complete. The setting is rustic, with groundhogs, deer, and other critters visiting below our balconies on a nightly basis (even an occasional skunk!). Eagle Trace had more than enough to keep everyone busy: golf, swimming, horseback riding, wonderful hiking trails. We'll go back.

I'm now a widow and wanted to take my children and their spouses on a trip so we could all be together for a week. After speaking with an RCI Vacation Guide, who recommended two, two bedroom units I decide to do it. I exchanged two weeks for two units in Massanutten, Va. We had a fabulous time with plenty of room for all. We explored the area and did some of the fun things at the resort. The resort was excellent for whatever you wanted to do. It has a fabulous water park, horse back riding, many different craft classes and much more. We were in the Summit part of the resort which has a great view of the mountains and valleys. If you go to the water park that can be a little pricey, but well worth it because it's so much fun.

We have been RCI subscribing members for about 20 years and have made many exchanges, once to Austria, 10 times to Kauai/Hawaii, and many times to our "home resort" of French Lick, IN. We usually invite family to go also and have many wonderful shared memories. Our first trip to Hawaii while on Oahu we visited Pearl Harbor with our daughter, son-in-law, and three year old grandson. Our grandson certainly broke the "silence" by getting his head stuck in the railing while looking for the ship!

I have been an RCI subscribing member for over twenty years. I have used my week to exchange and to stay at my home resort. I love my RCI membership. I have used my exchanges to travel all over the world plus many fine resorts in the U.S. I have so many wonderful memories of the places I have been with my husband, my family and my friends I could not possibly pick one. If there is ever anyone at the pool talking timeshare and RCI I am the one promoting the virtues. I would never have been able to stay at these fine resorts if I had not been an RCI member.

I have been an RCI subscribing member for over 20 years. We have visited so many wonderful resorts, it's hard to pick just one that stands out. My story is one about just being a member of a quality organization that continues to enhance its services year over year and offers so many choices for vacationing. Although we've visited beautiful places over the years, I think my kids' favorite place is Lake Havasu in Arizona which happens to be the resort we own but one time, we ended up exchanging back into it because my kids wanted to go back and I had already banked my week!

For Joan K. from Northamptonshire, England, an RCI subscribing membership unleashed her inner adventurer and she has enjoyed two decades of travelling the world with RCI. Joan has always been passionate about travel and this independent divorcee made sure her son, Mark, grew up with the same appreciation for the wonders the world holds for the curious mind. For Joan, a week’s timeshare in Antigua was the perfect gift for Mark. “I wanted to enable him to see the world and to share the experience with friends,” she explained. “Through travel I’ve discovered that I have a real sense of adventure – not for me lying around on a beach all day! I want to get out into the local communities to experience different cultures and the different ways of life the world over.”
After joining RCI in 1991 when she bought a week at Club Tarahal in Tenerife on the Canary Islands, Joan immediately exchanged for a week in Acapulco in Mexico and loved it so much she bought a second week of timeshare, there and then at the resort. Joan shared some of the most exciting and memorable moments of two of her RCI exchange holidays in the European edition of Holiday, The RCI Magazine. Her story (read it here!) sees her on safari in South Africa where she witnessed a ‘kill’ first-hand, and sharing a quiet bathing spot in a hilltop lagoon with monkeys in India. Of course, she got some much needed R&R in fabulous RCI affiliated resorts along the way to recharge her batteries!
This week on the RCI blog, we’ll be sharing stories and photos from those of you who have been RCI subscribing members for 20 years or more. Be sure to check back to hear about all the great places our members have traveled over the years.

My mother, aunt, son and I went to the Smugglers' Notch Resort earlier this year. It was our very first exchange with RCI. I have never been to Vermont before and didn't know what to expect. The Vermont trip exceeded my expectations. I am one that likes to try different things all of the time and go to different places. I like adventure and to explore. This is one place that I would not mind returning to! I fell in love with the area. It is so beautiful with all of the trees and mountains. We went in May so I can just imagine how beautiful it would be in the fall when the leaves turn colors... how breathtaking it would be. We enjoyed horseback riding, a day trip to Montreal, hiking in the mountains and sight-seeing in Burlington. Our resort had a "Family Fun Zone" that my whole family enjoyed. There was something for everyone there...ping pong, mini-golf, rock climbing walls, pool tables, air hockey, foosball, video/arcade games, big slides for the kids and air filled stations for kids to go in and jump on and many other toys for kids of all ages. We all had a wonderful time enjoying everything the resort had to offer and the surrounding area. I would have to say it was one of my favorite vacations I have ever taken!

We've exchanged for many, many really nice vacations through RCI. One of our favorite family vacations was one we took several years ago to the Poconos. When we arrived at the resort we were asked if we would like to be moved to a larger unit (a 3 bedroom instead of the 2 bedroom we had traded into) we all said "YES!" We are a family of 6 and we always like to have more room. The place was very nice, the staff very helpful and friendly. We found lots to do at the resort and the surrounding area, we also took a day trip to NYC. One thing we will all remember is the wonderful homemade, huge cheesecakes that we purchased in the small nearby town. We bought one plain cheesecake and one chocolate chip cheesecake. There were huge, about as big as a medium-sized pizza...

Thanks RCI for another great vacation! Every year we get together with close friends and make an exchange through RCI. This year we decided to try Park City, Utah. The Miners Club was a beautiful resort, boasting a fireplace and all! A hot air balloon ride over Park City was the highlight to a wonderful time had by all! Our friend then had just started dialysis due to kidney failure and now is finding it much more difficult to travel. He will always treasure all the times we vacationed with him and I thank RCI for making our trips possible!

I thought they gave us the wrong room when we opened the door to our unit at the Miners Club. Our one studio lock-off got us a 4-bedroom suite at a resort with RCI Gold Crown distinction in Park City. The suite was two stories and was beautiful beyond imagination. We felt like royalty as we sat on our huge balcony overlooking the pool with majestic mountains surrounding us. Miner's Club is one of our favorite quick getaway resorts and totally worth the exchange!

I've been lucky over the years... I've lived in some of the most beautiful states in the country. When I was young I lived in Northern California, then we moved to Alaska. I've also lived in Colorado and Connecticut and I've had a job that has taken me to all 50 states... numerous times. Having said that, I think I now live in the best state of all...Utah! You can literally go skiing in the morning and play golf that same afternoon. I love it! And while there are cool cities and towns everywhere in Utah, you have to visit Park City!
Park City is the perfect place - there are three ski resorts within just a few miles of each other - The Canyons, Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley. Each has won their share of International awards. One of the things I love about Park City is its easy access. There is a 6 lane freeway (I-80) that runs right past it and you can actually fly into Salt Lake City International airport and be at any of these resorts within 45 minutes.
Park City has just the right mix of locals and tourists. If you like to shop there is a huge outlet mall out by the freeway exit as well and another shopping center less than a mile away that has new cinemas, the latest stores and good restaurants, too. But the best part of Park City is "Historic Main Street". Park City was built up during the 19th century as a mining town and many of the earliest original buildings are still a part of Main Street. Main Street has a little bit of everything... really unique shops and stores selling everything from your typical souvenirs to high-end furs. There are great art galleries and lots of really quaint, local restaurants, diners, coffee shops and ice cream stores. The one thing you won't find on Main Street is any kind of a chain store or restaurant - I absolutely love it.
Park City is a true, four season destination. I live about 45 minutes away and we play in Park City year round. I grew up in Alaska so I definitely like to hit the slopes during the winter. But I also love photography and, during the spring, the mountains and meadows burst with color as a result of all the spring flowers. During the summer we've enjoyed everything from hot air balloon rides to great rounds of golf and lots of outdoor concerts. Fall in Park City is amazing as all the leaves change colors and everything is blazing in oranges, reds, yellows and greens. This is the time of year that we typically use some of our Points and exchange through RCI to stay at any of their affiliated resorts - we really like The Miners Club at The Canyons.
If you like amazing natural beauty with the fun and sophistication of a classy resort town proud of its history and heritage, you will LOVE Park City. And besides...it seems like the air is always clean and crisp and the sun a little brighter up here. If you haven't been to Park City you really should check it out... and if you have been here, well... I know you'll be back!
This week on the RCI Blog, we’ll be sharing stories and photos from RCI subscribing members who have visited Park City. Be sure to come back to read about their adventures!

Some friends wanted us to caravan with them down to La Paz during Spring Break. With 2 weeks advance notice we were able to exchange our week through RCI for an affiliated resort in La Paz. We all drove down - camping along the way. This was the most beautiful drive. Arriving in La Paz three days later - we all enjoyed the accommodations. Great beaches, great restaurants. We love La Paz! Thank you RCI for a great vacation.
