As a child I was very fortunate that my parent took us on extremely nice vacations. Since then, having always had a fascination with the west, it was my biggest desire to return to Lake Tahoe. After all who couldn’t be a fan of the west and not be a fan of Bonanza? If you pay attention to the opening scene, the background of the majestic mountains is beautiful Lake Tahoe, where in fact the Ponderosa was built.
Taking the ski lift in the center of town is a must. At the top is a glorious, breathtaking view of the magnificent snow capped mountains and the blue sparkling bed of water filled from streams of melted snow from those mountains, complete with a blue sky background sprinkled with a few white clouds. What an amazing scene.
And if you’re a big fan of the old west you can take a trip into the past to Virginia City. There, you’ll see stage coaches, old fashion trains, and spittoon saloons. Or you can take a day and go whitewater rafting. Or go west for the day and take in beautiful Yosemite. Or just sit on the beaches of the great Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe is a great destination year round. I suggest everyone experience Lake Tahoe at least once in their life…I know it’s someplace you will want to return to again someday.
