It'll never top Mexico

Our first RCI vacation took us to Playa del Carmen on the Yucatan Peninsula. We were excited to be able to exchange our timeshare in the Berkshires for a vacation outside of the US in order to give our two young boys some exposure to other cultures. We rented a car so that we could explore the surrounding countryside and possibly see some of the Mayan ruins while in Mexico. The resort was nice enough and offered a number of activities... The food was great; we tried a number of different options and the kids even tried some new things (a small miracle). The resort’s many pools provided some variety as we spent a chunk of time swimming and joining in on some resort-sponsored pool football...

Texas Relatives

As suggested by an RCI Vacation Guide, we visited Galveston, Texas. I met one of my cousins and her family that I had not seen in over 30 years. We grew up in upstate New York. We visited Lake Jackson where they lived and many of the sights in the area. One great memory was eating local BBQ - finger lickin' good! People were so friendly that we went back again through another RCI exchange. It was one of our best exchanges, with the beach across the street from our resort. May not sound like much to some, but it was a wonderful experience connecting with relatives that had moved far away.

Florida in July

We spent the Fourth of July in Florida. My daughter and my three grandchildren went with me to Hilton Grand Vacations Club in Orlando. I did an exchange through RCI about ten months before to book the July 4th weekend.

We had no problem finding the resort and checking in. While I checked in, the others checked out the pool, shops, and activity center...Our unit was one building away from the pool and activities. We had a three bedroom, which was actually a two bedroom with a lock out unit. This was great for my two oldest grandkids. They had a place of "their own." The whole unit was very roomy for all of us. The kitchen was fully equipped, as you would expect from a Hilton resort. This resort is close to International Drive, which has many nice restaurants, so we ate dinner out several times.

Fourth of July we drove to Cocoa Beach and spent the day there and stayed for the fireworks on the beach. It was a great day and only a little over an hour drive to get there. We were back to the resort by 11:30 p.m...

The next few days we spent at the resort relaxing. The pools were large with a fountain and a waterfall and plenty of lounge chairs. We played shuffleboard and there was a nice playground for the kids. There was a bingo game one day by the pool. I won a beach towel and $5 gift certificate for the snack shop...

Altogether this was one of our best vacations. The resort is beautiful and I was glad to get it through RCI. If anyone has a chance to exchange into this one, go for it!

Honeymoon at Last

This was no ordinary vacation, this was our honeymoon. Five days after we exchanged our nuptials in New Jersey, my new husband had to leave the United States and travel to Holland for work. I went back to Arizona by myself and back to work as a school teacher to finish up the last month of school.

On June 27, 2008, which was also my birthday, I finally met up with my new husband in the Canary Islands at Palm Beach Club for our long awaited honeymoon. We spent a glorious week walking on the beach...enjoying all this island could offer. In addition, we had spectacular weather. What more could a bride ask for?

LEGOLAND Fantasy Fulfilled

My two young boys were Lego fanatics. I considered their passion for the colorful little bricks when we made our vacation plans. I was so excited to find an exchange at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. The beautiful resort, also known for their amazing flowers in the spring, is situated next to the LEGOLAND theme park in Carlsbad, California...My boys were in heaven and we had a two day pass. As a father, I can say that the joy my kids experienced on this vacation made this one of my favorite RCI exchanges.

Inside RCI: The Road Show visits Chicago, IL

Michael E. - RCI Subscribing Member Benefits and News1

On April 28, 2012, RCI hosted another subscribing member event as part of the Inside RCI: The Road Show tour. Following the success of our last event in Elizabeth, NJ in November 2011, we decided to hit the Midwest and welcomed Chicago area members to an afternoon of prizes, food, fun and learning at the Wyndham Lisle-Chicago Hotel & Executive Meeting Center.

Over 125 RCI® members (plus their guests) attended and RCI had close to 30 associates on hand to answer any general or personal, account-specific questions. Representatives of our leadership team led informative sessions on recent enhancements to the RCI Weeks program. They also provided step-by-step instructions on how to deposit and exchange a week for a vacation. Members also had the opportunity to meet and talk one-on-one with RCI associates.

The event feedback was extremely positive and many members felt so comfortable and confident with their membership that they renewed on the spot and some even deposited and/or exchanged their week.

We view these events as an integral part of our member outreach. Your comments and feedback allow us to further improve our product and member experience.

Keep a look out for announcements on the next stop of Inside RCI: The Road Show. It could very well be in your area.

Honeymoon Gift 2000

For our wedding present a member of our family gave us their exchange week. The RCI Vacation Guide was so helpful when we chose a location to exchange. It was the tone that set the whole vacation. The resort entertainment staff made our vacation unforgettable. We played the newlywed game and beach volleyball and sang Karaoke. We had a wonderful time at an RCI designated Gold Crown Resort and are now RCI subscribing members ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful honeymoon.

A story from a Christel House India graduate and current RCI India employee

Saravana, Christel House India Graduate and Current RCI India Employee

It was a dream come true for me to be a part of Christel House India when I joined the school in 2003 in Grade 5. What followed has left an indelible mark on my personality and who I am today. Books, food, uniforms, friends, wonderful teachers – it was the beginning of a total transformation of life for me and for my family.

Under Christel House’s Work Study mentorship, I was given an option to join RCI. Once I joined RCI, the feeling of changing lives was even more real and familiar. I am happy that RCI’s vacation exchanges make people happy.  I am inspired by the commitment, principles and values of my supervisors here. I am learning from them constantly.  Both Christel House and RCI have been incredible in changing my life.

I consider myself blessed to be a Christel House alumni.

All is good in Carlsbad, CA

Vacation Travels with RCI TV's Dan "The RCI Guy"

I spent part of my youth growing up in California and I remember driving on the freeway and, from time to time, seeing an exit sign here or there that would say: Carlsbad. I always thought the name itself was kind of cool... but who knew the actual city was so great!

About 8 years ago my wife and I along with our four kids exchanged through RCI and stayed at a beautiful Grand Pacific Resort in Carlsbad and to this day, my kids say that was one of their favorite trips of all time (and believe me.... we've been on some awesome vacations)!

The first thing we liked was the easy accessibility. Carlsbad is built up on both sides of the I-5 Freeway and everything seems to be just minutes away. The resort we stayed at was about 5 minutes from the beach but built atop a small mountain crest with total, unobstructed views of the southern California coast - the sunsets were simply inspiring!

The next thing we liked about Carlsbad was all the fun shops and restaurants. We love to explore new shops and enjoy different restaurants when we go on vacation and Carlsbad has plenty of both. Since it's right on the coast, it's swimming with great seafood and tons of shops with a "beach boy" flare. Everything is fun and laid back at the same time and the locals all seem to have those same qualities woven into their DNA.

Another great thing about Carlsbad is its proximity to the theme parks. Seaworld is less than 30 minutes south in San Diego and Lego Land is only minutes away... and if you want to drive a little further north, you can still take in Disneyland.

Yup, my family and I LOVED Carlsbad. If Southern California is a place you've always wanted to go... or if you've been there before but haven't checked out Carlsbad, put it down as the next place for your next vacation!

Using our exchange we stayed on Oahu and "the Big Island" of Hawaii. We attended a church service on Waikiki Beach and visited Pearl Harbor and the Mighty Mo. We explored the island, driving along the coast in our rented convertible. Beautiful blue ocean, rugged velvet green mountain cliffs, sunny blue skies, wind blowing through your hair, and the fragrance of pineapples while driving through the middle of the island. On the Big Island we visited Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, the City of Refuge, and many beautiful beaches, including a black sand beach...It was also so beautiful. Each island is so different. We look forward to returning one day. It is on our Vacation Bucket List. We recommend to anyone, who has not gone yet, to visit the beautiful islands of Hawaii...

Ecoplaya Beach Resort

Our vacation exchange through RCI in Costa Rica was fantastic! It was the perfect blend of incredible scenery, abundant wildlife, relaxation and adventure. We enjoyed our stay at the Ecoplaya Beach Resort on the Northern coast as the beautiful beaches were virtually deserted. We definitely will be going back, hopefully with more family members in tow!

We enjoyed a wonderful family vacation over Christmas and the New Year in Cancun. There was something for everyone in our group of all ages. Sightseeing, resort activities, fabulous weather, glorious beaches at a world renowned resort - hard to believe all made possible by a reasonably priced exchange fee! Never having ventured out of our area through RCI, we were a bit apprehensive about traveling so far from home. The ease and accuracy of travel planning through RCI made all aspects of planning very enjoyable. We found the hotel staff and local people to be warm, friendly & attentive. Thank you for another great vacation.

Orlando 2009

In January of 2009, my wife and I were able to exchange through RCI for a beautiful three bedroom unit at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. We had been to Orlando many times before, but what made this trip so special was that, for the first time, we did it as grandparents. The unit enabled us to bring our oldest son, his wife, and our adorable grandson, RJ. We had all the space and comfort of home. Although we had always enjoyed the great Orlando attractions with our children, seeing them again through the eyes of a grandchild was extraordinary. Without RCI's exchange program, we never would have been able to do it.

Sweet 16

I gave my daughter a surprise 16th birthday staying at Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort near Orlando, Florida. I invited her 4 best friends and her brother and sister who are older than her and could rent a car for travel. I paid for the airfare, the exchange, and park admissions. I gave them spending money for food and fun. Unfortunately, I could not be there due to surgery, but it was a memorable sweet 16th birthday. All of them met at my house to present her with a card full of the tickets and a Mickey sweatshirt the night before. She was so surprised, happy and sad that I could not be there to celebrate. She knew I could not give her a party at this time but stated that this was the best trip ever and will never forget it. I am grateful for RCI to help make this dream come true and make this a memorable birthday for her.

2008 Thanksgiving in South Florida

I could tell over 20 fabulous vacation stories of our adventures with RCI exchanges since we bought our first week in 1996. However, most fresh in our minds is seven days at Vacation Village at Weston, FL near Ft. Lauderdale. We always try to select our resorts not only for the amenities (we were not disappointed), but for day trip adventures as well. Our day trips included a day cruise to the Bahamas and a trip to the Everglades, including a boat ride. We also went on a resort-sponsored bus ride to enjoy the sunset on Key West, a Thanksgiving Day drive to the beaches of Miami, and had a picnic with turkey sandwiches at the calm waters off Key Biscayne State Park. Late November in South Florida beckons with warm 70 degree days, cool nights, little rain and best of all, few bugs. Ahh! What RCI adventure is next?

Vacation Village at Bonaventure

For my exchange week I chose Mizner Place (a Vacation Village resort) in Weston, FL, right near Ft. Lauderdale. I traveled there from PA by bus. When I arrived at the registration desk and they realized I had no vehicle, they changed my accommodations to Vacation Village at Bonaventure, also in Weston, but within walking distance to many things. I was very happy about this as I could walk to the pool and gym. My place was perfect and I enjoyed being where all the action was. Every consideration was extended to me which made my stay perfect. I did go over to see the Mizner which had its own little town right there. A quiet area for people wishing that, but I was glad to be in the busy section. Thank you RCI for making my exchange easy. Your people have always been very friendly and extremely helpful.

Pagosa Springs 2008

During the summer of 2008 my husband, son and I spent a week in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, our first exchange trip. I'd never heard of Pagosa Springs, and had just asked the RCI Vacation Guide to find us something no more than a three day drive from San Francisco (not in a city). The resort was great, our unit very attractive with anything we might have wanted...We went rafting, hiking, soaked in hot springs, and drove to the town of Taos through some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen. We also had a great trip there and back, with stops at the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park...and more beautiful countryside. A great beginning to our RCI exchange vacations -- can't wait until the next one!

Trip to Shenandoah Valley

After enjoying each of our exchange vacations through RCI to such places as Costa Rica, Orlando, and the Poconos, our family of eighteen found our trip to an RCI affiliated resort in the Shenandoah Valley the best. Washington, D. C. was close, as were visits to many nearby sites: Civil War battlegrounds, estates of American historical figures, and beautiful landscapes. The amenities at the Eagle Trace at Massanutten were comfortable, elegant, complete. The setting is rustic, with groundhogs, deer, and other critters visiting below our balconies on a nightly basis (even an occasional skunk!). Eagle Trace had more than enough to keep everyone busy: golf, swimming, horseback riding, wonderful hiking trails. We'll go back.
