Cancun

We enjoyed a wonderful family vacation over Christmas and the New Year in Cancun. There was something for everyone in our group of all ages. Sightseeing, resort activities, fabulous weather, glorious beaches at a world renowned resort - hard to believe all made possible by a reasonably priced exchange fee! Never having ventured out of our area through RCI, we were a bit apprehensive about traveling so far from home. The ease and accuracy of travel planning through RCI made all aspects of planning very enjoyable. We found the hotel staff and local people to be warm, friendly & attentive. Thank you for another great vacation.

Orlando 2009

In January of 2009, my wife and I were able to exchange through RCI for a beautiful three bedroom unit at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. We had been to Orlando many times before, but what made this trip so special was that, for the first time, we did it as grandparents. The unit enabled us to bring our oldest son, his wife, and our adorable grandson, RJ. We had all the space and comfort of home. Although we had always enjoyed the great Orlando attractions with our children, seeing them again through the eyes of a grandchild was extraordinary. Without RCI's exchange program, we never would have been able to do it.

Amazing Orlando Vacation

WOW! That's what our entire family said when we walked into our first RCI exchange unit at Kissimmee Florida. We had seen photos of Orange Lake Country Club online, but it didn't compare to the beautiful grounds, fountains, unit, and facilities where we were granted access. We had anticipated spending all of our time at Walt Disney World, but with all of the extra ammenities and activities available, we stayed at the resort most evenings and afternoons. Our individual unit also was nicer than anything we could have imagined. It was really a home away from home.

RCI PlatinumSM membership – enjoy it on vacation, or at home!

Paul M. - RCI Points Product NewsGreat news in the RCI Weeks world…RCI Weeks subscribing members can now upgrade to RCI Platinum membership!  This upgraded tier of membership was made available to RCI Points® members last year, and they’ve enjoyed the many benefits of being an RCI Platinum member both at home and while on vacation.

Need an excuse to check out some new or different local eateries?  Look no further!  RCI Platinum dining discounts range from buy-one-get-one deals on everyday purchases like coffee and donuts, to big discounts at great restaurants.   And, if spring has you thinking about a “tee party :)”, check out the amazing RCI Platinum golf discounts.  The list goes on…think big city tour discounts, major metropolitan attraction discounts and more.

(We hope) It goes without saying that our goal is to help to enhance your vacation ownership, and there’s no better way to do that than every day while you’re at home.   And, when you’re ready to get away, the Priority Access feature gives you access to exchange vacations in awesome locations where exchange availability may otherwise be scarce.  Locations vary, but we’re talking about places like Chicago, Boston, New York City, San Diego and Seattle – all undeniably great cities! The Unit Upgrade feature is really cool too – as an RCI Platinum member, if a larger unit is available two weeks before your vacation’s check-in date, you have the opportunity to be automatically upgraded.  Who couldn’t use a bit more space to relax?!

And don’t forget, with Platinum Rebates on RCI transactions like Guest Certificates toward accommodations, Extra VacationsSM getaways, and Combined Deposits (for RCI Weeks members), it only takes a couple of transactions and you’ve almost covered the $55 USD annual RCI Platinum fee!  I’m not a fan of the phrase “no-brainer”, but…

To upgrade to the RCI Platinum membership, please call an RCI Vacation Guide today.

Cozumel 2008

My husband and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary in Cozumel, Mexico. The resort was absolutely beautiful. It was on the beach. Everything we needed in a vacation was right at our fingertips. We love to Scuba Dive and the shop and boat were on site. No taxis, buses or waiting. The diving was one of the best we have ever expereinced, we did 5 days of diving (10 tanks). The resort was all-inclusive so we had no need to go into town. It was the first of many of our vacations and exchanges where we only left the resort to dive. Our vacation was so relaxing and we came home truly refreshed.

Our exchange would not have been possible had it not been for the great staff at RCI. It was our first trip to Cozumel and knew nothing about the area or the resorts. The staff memeber asked me questions to fit my husband and my needs. It is the personal touches with RCI that truly make it a great exchange company.

A Las Vegas Vacation Leads to Great Memories for RCI® Subscribing Members!

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesIt's the go-to city for a lot of people, and everyone wants to take at least one Las Vegas vacation in their lives. But a lot of RCI subscribing members love going back again and again. Whether you go once, or go several times, it seems you will have a memorable experience.

In my position with RCI, I am lucky to hear stories from our members about their Las Vegas vacations. Some of our members have booked last minute trips to Las Vegas, some go for their birthdays, and one member used it as a form of personal healing after the loss of her husband.

I’m glad they didn’t stick to the “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” way of thinking, or I may not have been able to share these wonderful stories* with you!

Lynford, Scottsdale, AZ: While on a spur of the moment trip to Las Vegas in February of 09, we decided to utilize our Points since we could not find a reasonable place to stay in the heart of Vegas. We called up an RCI vacation guide who helped us secure a reservation at the Summer Bay Resorts which is just off the main strip. We were able to be close to all the fun and excitement that is Las Vegas. While there, my family and I had the most wonderful stay we've ever had in Las Vegas, all thanks to RCI!

Edith, Stone Mountain, GA: When my husband Roch died last year, after 48 1/2 years of marriage, I just knew I wouldn't travel again without him. He'd died in March of 2008. As the anniversary of his death came near, my children told me Dad would be unhappy if I sat at home. I thought about it, and decided they were right, and as an Avon Conference was coming in August, called RCI to see if there was a week available in Las Vegas. Always reliable RCI found a week for me, and together with my daughter, we went to Las Vegas and to the conference, and yes, we had a ball. It was wonderful, and I realized that I could in fact do it on my own, or with one of my children. Now I know I can get up and go, so am thinking about where I'll be going next year. My confidence in doing this came from the caring personnel of RCI, and their understanding of my situation, and caring helpfulness.

Fawn, Fort Lauderdale, FL: When I booked my exchange for the resort in Las Vegas we were surprised and delighted when the guide offered us a free upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite! When we arrived it was gorgeous and so spacious. I immediately contacted family in nearby states to get them to come and share it with us. It was a fabulous stay and a great birthday treat!

Patty, Louisville, KY: We were originally set to go to Turkey this October. RCI was wonderful in helping us locate a nice resort in the timeframe we wanted. Unfortunately due to family crisis, we were unable to save up the money for the airfare. So RCI came to rescue at short notice and helped us set up a vacation in the Grand Desert in Las Vegas in November where I can finally attend my first Professional Bull Riders Finals competition live! Plus my son and his family recently moved to Las Vegas, making this an even better trip. While we haven't taken our vacation yet, I am sure thankful for RCI for coming to the rescue and I'm sure giving us a vacation to remember. The adventure continues…

Why RCI® Subscribing Members Love the Many Possibilities of a Florida Vacation

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesWhen you hear “Florida vacation,” the three things that probably come to mind are sunshine, theme parks, and character breakfasts. But Florida is known for much more than that.

Whether you are traveling with your family, your significant other, or a group of friends, a Florida vacation has an abundance of activities that's sure to keep anyone entertained. For music fans, there are orchestras, operas, and symphonies. Animal lovers can enjoy the aquariums or the 2,000 mile Great Florida Birding Trail. Art buffs can check out the museums and strolling arts districts, while night owls may want to dance the night away in one of the many nightclubs.

As part of my job at RCI, I am lucky enough to hear from members about their Florida vacation experiences. Here’s what some RCI members had to say* about their resort vacations in the Sunshine State:

Charleen, Newfane, NY: We spent two weeks at the Dover House in Delray, Florida, in February and March of 2009. The resort was a cozy spot right on the ocean. We walked across the street and there was the beach. We could see the sunrise from our front porch or walk down to the beach and watch the beautiful day dawning. It was a five minute walk to the main shopping/tourist area and the intercoastal waterway. A cruise on the waterway was wonderful with beautiful homes and waterways. There were many wonderful restaurants including two about 500 feet from the resort itself that were quite charming with outside seating. It was a very relaxing area, but there were many things to do. The beach was great, and so was the pool — not a crowd to contend with, but friendly people to socialize with.

Jackie, Missoula, MT: We spent a week in Key West at the Galleon Resort. Pretty much in walking distance of anything and everything you want to see and do in Key West. From our unit we could watch the sun rise and sun set. We had a beautiful ocean view and couldn’t have asked for a better setting to experience the wonders of Key West.

Janet, Cincinnati, OH: We visited Plantation Beach Club at Indian River. It was the most relaxing vacation I think I had ever had. We had a wonderful screened balcony that was great. The views were fabulous. When you came up to the balcony in the morning, it was absolutely beautiful. The water looked as if it was right outside your door. When it was high tide, it was just fabulous. I will be looking forward to coming back again. My favorite memory of this resort is lying on the balcony with the ocean to my left and Indian River straight ahead. Just beautiful and what a memory to treasure. I would recommend this resort to anyone. I have been so pleased with my RCI exchanges. I loved every single resort we have visited or exchanged.

Why Timeshare Owners Should Also Become Members of RCI

Barbara E. - RCI Subscribing Member BenefitsAs the head of North America retention and loyalty at RCI, I sometimes hear from RCI subscribing members who are interested in knowing what types of non-exchange benefits are available to them. There are many members who use their own timeshare week the same time each year, and some of them don’t know all the valuable advantages they have just by being members.

There are many more reasons than ever before to be a timeshare exchange member. Our focus has always been on you as a consumer as well as you as a timeshare owner. The benefits we’ve added recently are what I call "everyday benefits" for the simple reason they can provide value every day in your regular non-timeshare consumer life. For example, do you travel on business or for long weekends? Take advantage of the up to 20% discount RCI members get on select hotels. Buying something for your home or a gift for family? Go right to an online "shopping mall," the RCI Shopping PerksSM program, and get Cash Back rewards on thousands of qualified items — it’s like getting paid to shop!

At the same time, your RCI timeshare exchange membership provides you with great travel perks including low-cost Extra VacationsSM getaways and cruise benefits such as cabin upgrades or savings of up to $500 USD!

Benefits for travel and benefits for every day tell the whole story of why an RCI Subscribing Membership can be a good value all the time. If you have any ideas for new benefits to enhance your membership, I’d love to hear them. Leave a comment, and let us know what you think.

Canyons, Hiking, Beautiful Scenery and More… All on an Arizona Vacation!

Susie M. - RCI Subscribing Member Vacation ExperiencesThree years ago, my family planned a winter vacation to sunny Sedona, Arizona. We bought our Red Rock Pass and picked up a trail map from the local Chamber of Commerce, then we hiked, and hiked, and hiked, each trail offering more adventure and more scenery than the last. We all enjoyed the area immensely, hiking, shopping, dining, and enjoying the fabulous resort pool and hot tub to our hearts’ content.

Making the most of our timeshare travel, we’ve visited Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., even Disney during our winter vacations, but this is the area we like to return to the most. We’re not alone in our adoration of Arizona! At my job with RCI, I am fortunate to hear vacation stories from our RCI subscribing members. Here’s what other timeshare owners had to say* about their Sedona resort vacations:

Linda, Wilmington, NC: We absolutely loved our trip to Arizona. We stayed in Sedona for the week. It is impossible to describe or photograph how beautiful it was. It was also our base for the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest and Page Canyon. What a wonderful week. We will return to this destination.

Alan, Ankeny, IA: Wanting to take a great winter vacation, my wife and I invited a couple to go with us to Sedona, Arizona. It was February and we found the weather to be great jacket weather. It was warm enough to golf and reasonably priced golf courses were found. Our condo exchange was the most beautiful we ever had and had a small lock-out unit attached which was wonderful for two couples. The scenery was beautiful and we really enjoyed the vacation.

Elaine, Milford, CT: Sedona, Arizona, is a dream destination. We have used our timeshare there several times, and never cease to marvel at the natural rock formations and of course the people. Best adventure is the side trip to Grand Canyon close by — don’t miss it!

Robert, Galt, CA: Our trip to Sedona, Arizona, was one of the funniest and most relaxing vacations we have taken in the 20+ years we have been members of RCI. Stayed at Sedona Summit, a great place. Each day we explored the area seeing some of the most beautiful scenery, Indian ruins, red rocks, beautiful homes, interesting rock formations, and talking to the locals about the area. The entire trip was one of awe. Fortunately, we had fantastic weather. We had the time of our lives.
