Orlando 2009

I own at a Vacation Village Resort property so when we went to Orlando, we were going to stay at Vacation Village at Parkway through my home resort. I went to the RCI website to check out reviews on other resorts in the area and ended up staying at the Silver Lake Resort in Kissimmee. The resort has RCI's silver crown distinction and, although we own at a resort with gold crown distinction, we were very satisfied. There was a movie theater and a game room on the property as well as 2 pools. The main pool had a tiki bar and it played the best music...What a great vacation. If it wasn't for RCI's great reviews and details on each resort, we probably wouldn't have had such a great time.

2008 Thanksgiving in South Florida

I could tell over 20 fabulous vacation stories of our adventures with RCI exchanges since we bought our first week in 1996. However, most fresh in our minds is seven days at Vacation Village at Weston, FL near Ft. Lauderdale. We always try to select our resorts not only for the amenities (we were not disappointed), but for day trip adventures as well. Our day trips included a day cruise to the Bahamas and a trip to the Everglades, including a boat ride. We also went on a resort-sponsored bus ride to enjoy the sunset on Key West, a Thanksgiving Day drive to the beaches of Miami, and had a picnic with turkey sandwiches at the calm waters off Key Biscayne State Park. Late November in South Florida beckons with warm 70 degree days, cool nights, little rain and best of all, few bugs. Ahh! What RCI adventure is next?

Vacation Village in Weston, Florida

We went to Ft. Lauderdale and enjoyed a refreshing beverage at the Oasis Cafe which is right in front of the water. I took a picture of the beautiful beach. It was so relaxing being outside by the water. I can't wait to go back.

Vacation Village at Bonaventure

For my exchange week I chose Mizner Place (a Vacation Village resort) in Weston, FL, right near Ft. Lauderdale. I traveled there from PA by bus. When I arrived at the registration desk and they realized I had no vehicle, they changed my accommodations to Vacation Village at Bonaventure, also in Weston, but within walking distance to many things. I was very happy about this as I could walk to the pool and gym. My place was perfect and I enjoyed being where all the action was. Every consideration was extended to me which made my stay perfect. I did go over to see the Mizner which had its own little town right there. A quiet area for people wishing that, but I was glad to be in the busy section. Thank you RCI for making my exchange easy. Your people have always been very friendly and extremely helpful.

Berkshires Fall Foliage

Even though rainy and dreary most days the accommodations at the Vacation Village at the Berkshires were very nice. The view of the fall forest colors was fantastic and the hiking trails at Mt. Greylock State Park were quiet and gorgeous. The staff there was very nice and helped us immensely whenever asked. The history in the area was educational and there were plenty of shopping and museum opportunities.

Endless Possibilities in Orlando, FL

Brad P. - RCI Sweepstakes and Social Media NewsI recently returned from a trip with my family (my wife, two daughters and son) to the Orlando area and I can honestly say it was my favorite vacation to date.  The weather was beautiful and there were so many fun outings and activities to keep us busy.  The parks and attractions were an obvious hit with my children, but the area has so much more to offer for those that just want to relax and enjoy the sun.  On our final day, we all were in agreement that we didn’t want our time in Orlando to end and wished it could be prolonged at least another week.

Have you been on a similar vacation to the Orlando area?  If so, please share it here on the RCI blog. If you’d like to read more about Orlando and what other RCI subscribing members have to say about the area, check back on the RCI blog this week…we’ll be sharing stories and photos from members like you!

And if you can’t wait, take a look at this video of Vacation Village at Parkway, an RCI affiliated resort in Orlando.

Dan “The RCI Guy”: Reporting from Mexico

Dan "The RCI Guy" - Vacation Travels with RCI TV's Dan "The RCI Guy"Some of my most favorite memories are of the times I spent in Mexico.

As “the RCI Guy” on RCI TV, I get to travel all around the world hosting RCI’s online travel show “New Ways to Play” and showcasing RCI affiliated timeshare resorts. Every time our schedule brings us back to Mexico, I am reminded of my earliest vacations here…which date back to the 1970’s.

My first trip to Mexico was about 35 years ago. After that, I knew I wanted to come back. In fact, in the early 1980s, I was traveling in the coastal city of Mazatlan and bought my first timeshare and became an RCI subscribing member.

What drew me to purchasing my timeshare here in Mexico was that I knew that whether I wanted to golf, take a long walk on the beach, lie in the sun, go scuba diving or deep sea fishing, I could do all of that here and so much more.

One of my most favorite things to do is to go off the beaten path and see how different a town or village is within just a few blocks from the touristy areas and timeshare resorts. Some of the most memorable times for my family and I have been when we simply took a side detour to see more of what this country has to offer. In my opinion – and limited Spanish – Mexico es perfecto!

If you want to check out some of my favorite things to see and do in Mexico, check out the Destination Review Channel on RCI TV. Comment below and let me know what you think!
